Set up country-day counters
Counters calculate from your saved days. They do not create travel history. Start with a neutral country tracker if you simply want a total, or inspect a source-linked preset if you want an estimate for a particular rule.
Find and activate a counter
- Open Today → Choose a country or rule, or You → Active counters → Browse all countries and rules.
- Search for a country or rule. Use All, Official, or Countries to narrow the list.
- Open a result and read its explanation, counting method, caveat, source link, and review status.
- Tap Add active counter, or the plus beside a library entry.
- Return to Today to see it. Tap its card for the detailed calculation.
The free plan allows one active counter. A locked Add button offers Pro. To switch counters without upgrading, remove the current one, then add another. Removing a counter keeps your travel days and saved answers.
Choose the right kind of tracker
Days in [country] is a neutral, calendar-year count of recorded non-transit presence days. It does not determine residency, citizenship eligibility, or permission to stay.
The inspected library also contains these named presets. This table describes the app's scope, not a statement of current law:

Answer rule questions
For presets with questions, open Answer rule questions in the rule detail page.
- Choose Yes or No for each question. Not answered remains missing information.
- Use the plus and minus controls for numeric facts. An unchanged numeric field can remain Not answered, even if the control has a starting value.
- Adjust Warning margin between 0 and 60 days. The initial margin is 14 days.
- Under Exclude exception days, turn on a day's switch to exclude it from that rule only. Turn it off to include it again. The day remains in your travel record and other counters.
Changes save as you make them; there is no separate Save button. The questions, margin, and exclusions are currently reachable through this form only for rules that have questions. Neutral trackers and the Canada/UAE presets do not expose that form in the inspected UI.
Understand the result

| Threshold reached | Read the rule's goal and caveats; reaching a minimum and exceeding a maximum have different meanings. |
| Missing information | Complete the personal questions or review whether the rule applies. |
| Insufficient history | Add missing travel or confirm/correct uncertain days. |
Likely and Needs Review days can be included in the number, but make the result uncertain. Confirm a valid photo day through Timeline → Days → Confirm, not only through the Review queue.
The counter detail shows its date range, counted days, excluded count, uncertainty, and calculation explanation. Weighted rules can show both a weighted value and raw included-day information. If a change seems stale while this page is open, return to Today and reopen the counter: part of the detail page retains the result it received when opened.
Check overnight and overlapping travel
Manual entry records dates, not entry and exit times. Although the UK preset describes midnight presence, the live manual-entry flow does not reconstruct it automatically. Review the relevant days yourself. Overlapping country records and time-zone boundaries also need care.
Review history and update rules
You → Rule audit history lists saved result snapshots when an active calculation changes. The app retains up to 500 snapshots. An empty list says No saved evaluations.
You → Install rule update accepts a local Borderly rule package. It does not fetch automatic rule updates. Download the rule-package template and import instructions to try the same format the app uses. An imported package does not automatically activate a counter.
