Privacy policy

This policy explains how Borderly for iPhone and the Borderly Guide website handle information. Borderly is provided by CodePlug Technologies ("CodePlug", "we", "us", or "our").

Borderly is designed around an on-device travel record. The app does not require a Borderly account, and CodePlug does not receive your day-by-day travel record through the app. Some features do contact Apple and Adapty, as described below.

Information kept on your device

Borderly stores the following information in the app's local storage:

• Travel days, trips, countries, cities, dates, map coordinates, confidence, evidence labels, notes, and transit choices.
• Your home country, enabled counters, answers to rule questions, exclusions, imported rule definitions, and recent rule evaluations.
• Passport issuing country, expiry date, optional issue date, and nickname. Borderly does not ask for a passport number or store a passport image.
• Review items and app preferences, including onboarding and notification choices.

Photo reconstruction reads dates, location metadata, and limited file metadata from photos that iOS makes available to Borderly. The app does not load or upload the photo image itself. Hidden photos and videos are excluded. A proposed photo day can retain a representative coordinate in the local travel record.

This information remains under the control of your device unless you choose to export or share it. Borderly does not provide an account service or its own cloud sync.

When information leaves your device

Apple services

Borderly uses Apple Maps to find a place when you add a trip. It also uses Apple's geocoding service to turn photo coordinates into place names. Your search text or coordinates, along with technical request information, may be sent to Apple for those tasks. Apple handles that information under its own privacy terms.

Purchases are processed by Apple. CodePlug does not receive your payment-card details. Apple supplies purchase and subscription information needed to complete a purchase and determine whether Borderly Pro is active.

If you turn on notifications, Borderly schedules eligible reminders through iOS. The current implementation uses local notifications and does not send your rule results to a CodePlug notification server.

Adapty

Borderly contacts Adapty when the app starts to load subscription status, available products, and the purchase screen. Adapty may process a pseudonymous profile identifier, app and device information, paywall activity, and purchase or subscription status. Borderly configures the Adapty SDK not to collect Apple's advertising identifier and to clear its SDK data from device backups. Adapty's handling is described in its privacy policy.

Borderly Guide website

This documentation website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. When you visit it, Cloudflare may process information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as your IP address, requested page, browser information, and request timing. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

The guide does not include advertising pixels, account registration, or a contact form. Search runs in your browser. The site may save your appearance and search-display preferences in browser storage so those choices work on later visits.

Permissions

Borderly asks for access only when you use a related control:

• Photos: to read metadata used for photo reconstruction.
• Location: the app can request While Using or Always permission. The current release does not connect location monitoring to automatic travel-record creation.
• Calendar: the app can request calendar access, but the current release does not import calendar events into the travel record.
• Face ID: enabling the setting performs a biometric check. The current release does not enforce a persistent lock when the app opens or resumes.
• Notifications: to schedule local rule reminders.

You can change system permissions in iPhone Settings. Removing a permission stops future access of that type, but it does not automatically remove information already saved in your Borderly record.

Exports, backups, and imported rules

Borderly creates JSON backups and CSV reports on your device and opens the iOS share sheet. Once you send a file to Files, email, cloud storage, or another app, the recipient handles that copy under its own terms. Backup files are readable and are not encrypted by Borderly.

Restoring a Borderly backup replaces the supported parts of the current record. Importing a rule package reads the file on your device. CodePlug does not receive either file through these actions.

Retention and deletion

Your local record remains until you edit it, erase it in Borderly, or remove the app and its data through iOS. You → Erase all data clears the main Borderly record, including travel history, evidence, passports, counters, answers, exclusions, rule overrides, and evaluation history. It does not cancel a subscription, revoke iOS permissions, delete copies you exported, or reliably remove every temporary export and previously scheduled notification. The notification preference may also remain.

You can delete individual trips, days, and passport entries inside the app. Removing the app normally removes its app container from that device, subject to Apple's device, backup, and restoration behavior.

Adapty, Apple, and Cloudflare keep information under their own retention policies. Because Borderly has no user account linking your local record to CodePlug, we cannot retrieve or delete the record stored on your device for you.

Your choices and rights

You can inspect, correct, export, or delete the travel information held in the app using its built-in controls. You can also deny or revoke optional permissions and manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple Account.

Depending on where you live, privacy law may give you rights over personal information processed by CodePlug, such as access, correction, deletion, or objection. To make a request, email satz@codeplugtech.in. We may need enough information to understand the request and, where required, verify that it concerns you. We may be unable to connect a pseudonymous service record to you.

Children

Borderly is a travel-planning and recordkeeping tool for people able to make their own travel and subscription decisions. It is not designed for children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to CodePlug, contact us so we can review the situation.

Security

Borderly limits the travel information it sends away from your device, but no device, transmission, or storage method is completely secure. Protect your iPhone with a passcode and store exported backups in a location you trust. The Face ID setting is not a working app lock in the current release.

Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy as Borderly changes. The current version will remain on this page with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how the app handles information, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
