Add and edit trips

Use manual trips for stays you know about. Your record remains editable; a trip and its individual days are related but are not always changed together.

Add a trip

  1. Open Timeline and tap +, or use Today → Add a trip manually.
  2. Tap Country, search by country name or two-letter code, and choose it. Add a city if useful.
  3. Choose the arrival and departure dates. A same-day stay uses the same date twice.
  4. Tap Save. While the location lookup runs, the button says Locating… and is disabled.
  5. On success, return to Timeline to inspect the new trip and its days.

Both end dates count. New days are marked Manual, have a confidence score of 100%, and include an Added by you evidence note. This score reflects your entry, not an independent check.

If a day already exists on a date in that range, Borderly does not add a duplicate day. A different country is corrected to the country you just entered; an existing day in the same country is left as it was. The new trip can still overlap an existing trip.

If saving fails

The app needs a map result before it saves a manual trip. Check your connection, simplify the city name, or leave the city blank and retry with the country. Cancel closes the form without adding a trip.

Edit a stay

  1. Open Timeline → Trips.
  2. Long-press the trip and choose Edit trip. You can also select its pin in Map and tap Edit.
  3. Change the country, city, arrival, or departure.
  4. Tap Save. The trip becomes Manual.

Changing the country also corrects same-country day records within the trip's original date range. Corrections add a note to each affected day's evidence.

Changing only trip dates does not add or remove day records. Changing only the city does not update existing days' cities. Inspect Timeline → Days and correct the days separately. A country edit also retains the trip's old map coordinate; the map pin may therefore remain at the previous location.

Split one stay into two trips

  1. Long-press a multi-day trip in Timeline → Trips.
  2. Choose Split trip.
  3. Set Second trip starts on to a date after the original arrival and no later than its departure.
  4. Tap Split.

The first trip ends the day before the split; the second starts on the selected date. Day records and their evidence are unchanged. This does not insert a different country or a missing border-hop day. Single-day trips do not offer Split.

Delete a trip or day

To delete a trip, long-press it and choose Delete, then confirm. You can also use Delete this trip in its editor. This removes the trip and matching same-country days within its date range, and recalculates counters. If trips overlap, those removed days may also have contributed to another trip's evidence count.

To delete only a day, open Timeline → Days, swipe the row to reveal Delete, and confirm. The trip summary remains; deleting a day does not shorten or remove the trip.

A brief Timeline banner offers Undo for the most recent deletion. Use it straight away—the banner lasts about four seconds, and later actions can replace the undo. It is not a recycle bin.

To change or confirm a day instead, see review and correct days.
