Explore your travel map

The map places saved trips on an Apple Maps globe and connects their representative locations. It is a view of your saved trip record, not a continuous GPS trail or a verified flight path.

Open and explore the globe

1. Open Timeline.
2. Select Map in the Trips / Days / Map control.
3. Let the opening journey animation finish. It starts near a destination, pulls back, rotates, and settles on the whole route.
4. Pan or zoom the map. Use the compass to orient yourself.
5. Tap a trip marker to see its country, city, and duration. Tap Edit to open the trip editor.

A marker includes the country's flag and the trip's duration. The route connects trips in chronological order. Selecting another trip can start the journey sequence around that destination. Use the play button to Replay journey film.

An empty or incomplete map

With no trips, the screen says Your globe starts with a destination and offers Add first trip. A successfully saved manual trip receives a map position from its location lookup. Photo trips use a representative photo location.

Map tiles and destination lookup may need a connection. If a new manual trip cannot be located, the trip form shows an error and does not save it.

Changing a trip's country or city in the editor does not look up a new coordinate in this version. If a pin looks wrong after an edit, use the trip list and day records as the reference; the old pin is a known limitation.

Reduce motion

Borderly respects the iPhone's Reduce Motion preference. With it enabled, the map shows the route without the journey animation. The journey film is an in-app animation; there is no video export or background recording control.
