Settings and permissions
Open You for tracking controls, privacy options, counters, purchases, and app information. The header shows your chosen home country and a summary of your record.
Location and background tracking
Tap Location. With no decision yet, Borderly asks for While Using access. With While Using already allowed, it can ask for Always access. If access is denied, the row opens iPhone Settings. A fully granted Always row is informational.
The Background tracking switch changes the displayed tracking preference. It does not start or stop a working location collector in this version and resets to its default on a new launch. The Today status reflects permission and saved evidence, not proof of live location tracking. Use manual trips or photo reconstruction for actual record creation.
Photo access
Tap Photos to request access if it has not been requested. If access is denied or limited to selected photos, the row opens iPhone Settings so you can change it. With full access, it is an informational row.
Borderly refreshes photo access when you return to the app. Changing permission does not itself run a scan; choose Rebuild travel from photos to begin.
Calendar access
The Calendar row can request access to read events and shows On, Off, Write only, or Not requested. Denied or write-only access leads to iPhone Settings. There is no implemented calendar-to-trip importer, so granting this permission alone adds nothing to your travel record.
Face ID
Turning on Lock with Face ID asks for biometric authentication. If unavailable or unsuccessful, the app displays Face ID unavailable with a reason.
Do not rely on this switch as an app lock. The current app does not check it when opening or resuming, and the enabled state is not retained between launches. A protected attachment or passport-scan vault is not implemented either.
Home country and counting preferences
Tap Home country and search the list to change it. The value saves automatically and changes the home label; it does not reassign your recorded travel days.
Counting method: Count arrival & departure is a read-only row. It is not a global switch. Use the relevant rule detail and personal questions to inspect the method, exceptions, and warning margin.
Active counters, Rule audit history, Install rule update, and Days by country open their corresponding screens. The full country breakdown requires Pro.
Local notifications
Turn Local notifications on to request permission. If permission is refused, the switch becomes off. Permission is managed separately by iOS; if prompts no longer appear, change notification permission in the iPhone's Settings app.
When allowed, Borderly schedules a one-time local notification for the next 9:00 a.m. in the device's calendar/time zone when an evaluated rule is in Warning, Threshold reached, Missing information, or Insufficient history. Notifications contain that rule's state and explanation. This is not a continuously running travel monitor.
The preference is saved. There is no time picker, daily-repeat setting, passport-renewal scheduler, or custom notification sound. iOS delivery has not been tested on a physical device for these guides.
Turning the switch off removes pending notifications for currently evaluated rules. A removed counter's old pending reminder may survive; erasing the record does not reliably clear those old reminders either. If reminders persist, disable Borderly notifications in iPhone Settings.
Appearance and other controls
The main app follows the iPhone's light/dark appearance; there is no user-facing in-app theme picker. The paywall uses its own dark presentation. Several animations respect Reduce Motion.
Under Language, App language defaults to System Language, which follows the iPhone's language and region. You can choose English to keep Borderly in English regardless of the system language. English is the only translation included in this version, so choosing System Language also displays English when the iPhone uses an unsupported language. The choice is saved on this device.
