Troubleshooting

Start with the visible result and check the underlying day record. Borderly's controls include several unfinished features; a permission grant or success message does not always mean a day changed.

Today stays empty after allowing location

Automatic location collection is not connected in this version. Use Add today manually, check both dates, and save; or reconstruct supported dates from photos. A Background tracking status is not proof that new GPS evidence was received.

Save stays on Locating or shows an error

Manual entry waits for an Apple Maps location result. Check your connection and try a simpler city name or the country alone. An error leaves the form open and no trip is created. The implementation has no separate offline save option while destination lookup is unavailable.

Photo scan finds nothing or misses days

Check the date range, selected-photo permissions, and whether photos have location metadata. The original-photo filter can omit renamed or saved images. If you turn it off, inspect the resulting evidence carefully. Hidden photos and videos are not scanned. Failed place lookups can produce partial or empty results. Use photo troubleshooting for the exact states.

I confirmed a review, but my counter is still uncertain

Review's Confirm resolves the queue item only. Open Timeline → Days, inspect that date, and swipe to Confirm the actual day. Likely photo days also need confirmation to stop contributing uncertainty to the counter engine.

Reject proposal does not remove an already saved day. Delete or correct it in Timeline. Choose another country in Review does not change the country. Use the Timeline day editor instead.

Trip dates, day totals, and map pins disagree

A trip's date span can include gaps with no day evidence. Editing trip dates does not regenerate the days, and deleting a day does not shorten a trip. A country or city edit retains the old map position. Inspect Timeline → Trips, Days, and the relevant counter separately.

Country totals also use different uncertainty and counting rules from rule counters. See why totals can differ.

A counter is missing or cannot be added

A new installation has no active counters. Choose one in the rule library. The free plan permits one; a second addition offers Pro. Following a subscription lapse, only one active result is calculated. Remove unwanted enabled rules and add the one you want to use.

For Missing information, open the rule questions. For Insufficient history, add missing days or confirm uncertain ones. Numeric questions may still say Not answered until you adjust the stepper. A neutral presence tracker is an alternative when you only need a count.

Planner shows no active rule

Activate a rule that includes your destination using Open rule library. Planner only uses active matching rules. It needs Pro. Its passport buffer is separate from the counter and does not replace official entry requirements.

Pro prices, purchase, or restore fail

Check your connection, reopen the offer, and use Try again or You → Restore purchases. Read the resulting message. A pending purchase requires completion through Apple's approval process; a canceled purchase leaves access unchanged. Do not use travel-backup restore to recover a subscription. See purchases.

Backup restore fails or data seems missing

Use an original Borderly JSON backup, not a CSV report or rule-update package. A successful restore replaces the current record and clears the review queue. There is no merge or automatic cloud retrieval. If you have multiple backups, inspect the selected file's date before restoring another one.

Face ID does not appear on reopening

The switch only performs a one-time biometric check when enabled. A persistent app lock is unfinished. Do not treat the saved record as protected by a working Borderly Face ID lock.

Notifications are missing or continue after removal

The app schedules eligible rule reminders for the next 9:00 a.m.; it does not schedule passport reminders or continuously recalculate in the background. Check the in-app switch and iPhone notification permission. Delivery timing on a physical device is unverified.

A notification from a removed rule may remain pending because cleanup only matches currently evaluated rules. If it persists after switching reminders off or erasing data, disable Borderly notifications in iPhone Settings.

Review's Merge with adjacent trip and Apply to similar days are placeholders. Use the implemented trip editor and split action instead where applicable. Privacy and Terms links are configured in the updated project. An older build can still show the unavailable message; update to a build that includes the published links.

Each feature guide identifies behavior that is unfinished or could not be confirmed on physical hardware.
